Advocacy

AGCVA is the "voice" of the construction industry in the public space and among legislators and regulators. AGCVA continues to build and develop strong relationships with legislators and regulators across the state, as a trusted resource and authority. We are working hard on your behalf to educate and inform policy making decisions.

We encourage you to be involved with our advocacy efforts. Our team is working tirelessly on your behalf, but you have tremendous power as a constituent.

AGCVA PAC

Building relationships for a stronger construction community.

“As a contractor in Virginia, I see firsthand how essential the AGCVA PAC is to protecting our industry and our workforce. By building strong relationships with key legislators, the PAC ensures our voice is heard where decisions are made and that our interests are defended when it matters most. Supporting the PAC is one of the smartest investments we can make in the future of our businesses and our industry. ”

- Taylor Brannan (F. Richard Wilton Jr., Inc.)

The AGCVA PAC, established in 1973, is a non-partisan resource to support the association’s advocacy goals. Over the years, AGCVA has built strong relationships with members of the General Assembly and Governor’s administration. With so many new faces after each election cycle, it is imperative to have a strong PAC to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones. A strong PAC is only one tool in AGCVA's advocacy tool box, though it is a very important one. Learn more about AGCVA PAC's biggest fundraiser - AGCVA PAC Golf Classic: here.

Virginia Construction Advocacy Fund (VCAF)

The Virginia Construction Advocacy Fund (VCAF) is AGCVA’s dedicated resource for advancing high-impact advocacy efforts that protect and strengthen Virginia’s commercial construction industry. By pooling voluntary contributions from members, VCAF enables AGCVA to engage in targeted campaigns, research, outreach, and coalition work on issues that directly affect contractors’ ability to operate, compete, and grow. The fund ensures our industry has a strong, coordinated voice when policies threaten fair competition, workforce opportunity, or the cost of doing business. Below are two current initiatives supported through VCAF.

Supporting the Virginia Construction Advocacy Fund strengthens AGCVA’s ability to defend our industry when it matters most. VCAF provides the resources needed to protect our businesses, uphold Virginia’s pro-growth policies, and ensure a stable, competitive environment for contractors. It’s not just a contribution — it’s an investment in our company’s future.”

Foundation for the Future

To ensure Virginia remains the best place to live, work, and do business, AGCVA has launched Foundation for the Future — a yearlong initiative to define a bold vision for the Commonwealth’s construction industry, and make Virginia the best place to build.

This framework will outline the policies, regulations, and conditions necessary to support a strong, competitive construction industry and workers. It will serve as a guide for the next governor, members of the General Assembly, and other key stakeholders, articulating the industry’s priorities for Virginia’s economic and political future.
