It's easy to have a false sense of safety when it comes to cyber risk.  Contrary to what we may tell ourselves, data breaches and phishing attacks are increasing in frequency and in sophistication.

This session will arm you with the knowledge to prevent an attack and teach you how to respond in the event that you or your organization is targeted.

You will learn:
  • About specific case studies examining threats to the construction industry.
  • Social engineering attack from an inside perspective - how do Cyber Threat Actors (CTAs) hack humans?
  • Ways CTAs target the construction industry.
  • Risk mitigation approaches & resources for the construction industry.
  • An understanding of identity theft.
  • What to do if you get "stolen", including how to freeze your credit reports.
  • Malware, virus, & ransomware basics.
  • How to best protect yourself.
Presented by:
  • Dr. Edna Reid - former FBI analyst, Adjunct Faculty, JMU College of Integrated Science and Engineering
  • Rebecca Laura - Director of IT, Massanutten Regional Library
